Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working together to capture your love story

The Experience - What to Expect

What happens after I reach out?
After you contact me, I'll respond within 24-48 hours with availability and pricing. If we're a good fit, we'll schedule a consultation call to talk through your vision, timeline, and any questions you have. No pressure - just getting to know each other.
How does the booking process work?
Once you decide to book, I'll send over your contract and invoice for the retainer. After your 30% non-refundable retainer and signed contract from both partners are returned, your date is officially secured! We'll also set up your custom payment plan at this time. You'll then receive your comprehensive PDF Wedding Guide that walks you through our entire process together, from engagement planning through gallery delivery.
What happens between booking and my wedding?
About 6 weeks before your wedding, I'll send you an in-depth questionnaire covering your timeline, shot list, family groupings, and any special moments you want captured. From your responses, we'll build your custom timeline together during our planning call to make sure everything flows perfectly and we capture what matters most to you.
What about on our wedding day?
I arrive ready to capture your story with backup equipment, timeline cards, and an emergency kit. I work quietly in the background during intimate moments and step in to help with organization when needed. Your timeline planning consultation ensures we get all your must-have shots without feeling rushed.
When do we see our photos?
You'll get a preview gallery perfect for social media sharing within the timeframe listed for your collection (24-72 hours, Monday-Friday only). Your full wedding gallery with all edited images arrives within 6-8 weeks, delivered through an online gallery where you can download, share, and print your favorites.

Booking & Pricing

How do I book my wedding date?
To secure your date, I require a 30% non-refundable retainer and a signed contract. We can set up a payment plan that works for your budget - usually 30% at booking, 30% halfway through your engagement, and the final balance two weeks before your wedding. But life happens, so we can adjust this to whatever actually works for you.
What if I need to change my wedding date?
Date changes are subject to availability and may incur fees. If your new date is available, we can usually work something out. If I'm not available for your new date, your retainer can be applied to an engagement session or other services instead.
What if you can't make it to my wedding?
I have backup photographer arrangements and comprehensive insurance to protect your investment. In most cases, I would still handle all your editing personally to maintain my style and quality standards. In the extremely unlikely event of a true emergency requiring a backup photographer, I have trusted colleagues who would step in using your same timeline and shot list. Since becoming a photographer, I have never canceled on a client without plenty of advance notice and reasonable cause. If I'm feeling unwell but can still work safely, I'll hire a second photographer at no cost to you to ensure full coverage. Your wedding day is irreplaceable, and I take this commitment seriously.
Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! Weddings are expensive and budgets are weird. After your retainer, we can create a payment schedule that works for you. Most couples do 30% at booking, 30% halfway through, and final payment two weeks before the wedding, but we can adjust based on your needs.
What is your current availability for 2026 and 2027?
2026: I have a maximum of 3 Saturday dates available between November and December 2026.

2027: I'm keeping my booking intentionally limited. I'm accepting a maximum of 1-2 Saturday weddings per month through June 2027. After June 2027, I can start looking at accepting at least 3 weddings per month.
Are you a legitimate business with insurance?
Yes! Liminal Bloom Photography is a fully insured business through State Farm, operating as a sole proprietorship in Tennessee. I carry professional liability and equipment insurance to protect both your investment and my ability to capture your day. Many venues require proof of insurance from photographers, and I'm always happy to provide certificates of insurance when needed. Your peace of mind matters - you deserve to know you're working with a professional who takes this seriously.

What to Expect

How many photos will I receive?
You'll receive 50-75 edited images per hour booked, plus 5 fully retouched images per hour. So if you book 6 hours, expect 300-450 edited photos plus 30 premium retouched images. Fully retouched means I spend extra time perfecting skin, removing blemishes, adjusting lighting, and fine-tuning every detail - these are your portfolio-quality images. Quality over quantity is my approach.
What does "fully retouched" mean?
All your images receive my signature editing including color grading, skin smoothing, blemish removal, and lighting adjustments. Fully retouched images go beyond this with advanced Photoshop work - things like removing unwanted objects, extensive background cleanup, dramatic lighting changes, composite work, or major elements that require detailed manual editing. These are your portfolio-quality, heirloom images that receive the full magazine-style treatment. Perfect for large prints, announcement cards, and framing - these are your "cover photo" level images.
When will I get my photos?
Preview galleries (perfect for social media sharing) arrive within the timeframes listed for each collection. Your full wedding gallery will be delivered within 6-8 weeks. Preview galleries are processed Monday-Friday only.
Do you provide raw/unedited photos?
No, I only deliver professionally edited images. Raw files are like film negatives - they need specialized software and don't represent my artistic vision. Every delivered photo is carefully edited to ensure consistent quality and style.
What's your photography style?
I focus on authentic, emotional storytelling with a romantic, natural aesthetic. Think candid moments, soft light, and real emotions rather than overly posed portraits. My goal is to capture how your day actually felt, not just how it looked.
Can you edit our photos in a specific style we prefer?
Absolutely! My approach is "your story, your style, my magic." During our consultation, we'll discuss your vision and preferences for the final look. I collaborate with couples on shot lists and editing direction to make sure your gallery reflects what you actually want. If you trust my editing style, you can expect warm, romantic tones with natural skin tones, soft light, and timeless colors that won't look dated in 20 years. I focus on enhancing the authentic emotions and beauty that were already there.

Wedding Day Details

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?
Outdoor ceremonies include complimentary backup timeline planning. We'll discuss weather contingencies during your consultation, and I always come prepared with clear umbrellas and a positive attitude. Some of my favorite photos happen in unexpected weather!
Do you help with timeline planning?
Yes! Timeline planning assistance is included with every package. During our pre-wedding call, we'll go through your day hour by hour to make sure everything flows smoothly and you get the photos that matter most to you. I'll also create an individualized PDF timeline for you to share with your vendors and wedding party so everyone knows exactly what's happening when.
What if my wedding runs longer than planned?
If you need me to stay longer than your contracted hours, I offer extra hour coverage for $250/hour. We can decide on the day based on how things are going - no pressure either way.
Can you handle large weddings?
Package pricing assumes guest counts under 150. For larger weddings, we may need additional coverage time or a second photographer to ensure we capture all the important moments. We'll discuss this during your consultation.

Travel & Venues

How far will you travel?
Travel within 60 miles of Knoxville is included in all packages. Beyond that, travel is $1 per mile and covers gas and lodging if needed. I love adventure elopements and destination weddings!
Are there venue restrictions I should know about?
Some venues have photography restrictions that may affect coverage - things like no flash during ceremonies or restricted vendor access. We'll discuss any venue-specific considerations during your consultation to make sure we're prepared.
Do you offer location scouting?
Location scouting assistance is included with elopement packages, and I'm happy to help with venue recommendations for all my couples. I know East Tennessee well and can suggest amazing spots for your portraits.

Add-Ons & Extras

Can I add services to my package later?
Absolutely! Add-ons can be included at booking or added later (subject to availability). Popular additions include second photographers, engagement sessions, rush delivery, and getting ready refreshment service.
What's included in the Getting Ready Refreshments?
I arrive with a beautiful tray including fancy coffee/tea service, local pastries, mimosa fixings (or sparkling cider), and cute serving pieces that photograph beautifully. It makes your morning feel extra special and creates gorgeous detail shots.
Do you offer engagement sessions separately?
Yes! Standalone engagement sessions are $300 and are included complimentary with Golden Collection and above. They're a great way to get comfortable with my camera before your wedding day. I also offer bridal sessions for $250 which are perfect for couples who want extra portrait time without cutting into their actual wedding day timeline.

After Your Wedding

Can I print my photos anywhere?
Yes! Every package includes a personal print release so you can print your favorites wherever you'd like. However, I'm only able to assist for print quality issues from the professional lab attached to your final online gallery where you can purchase prints, thank you cards, wall art, and albums. For third-party printing, Mpix is my top recommendation for reliable quality and color accuracy. Images are for personal use only - commercial licensing is available separately if needed.
Do you offer wedding albums?
I offer Custom Album Design service starting at $200 where we meet to curate and design your perfect album from your full gallery. This covers the design consultation and layout - printing costs are separate and depend on your album choices.
What if I want photos faster than 6-8 weeks?
Rush delivery is available for $400 and gets your full gallery to you in 2-4 weeks instead of the usual 6-8. Perfect for when you can't wait to relive all those amazing moments!
